Greetings from Yvonne Turnbull –

First, as you can tell by what you read in the subject line, this will not be one of our regular newsletters. Our September newsletter will be sent out sometime next week under the subject title of – “A Husband’s Confession.”

Secondly, what you will now read will be lengthy and we ask you to please read this prayerfully and carefully.

As many of you know, and some will now know, in the 70’s when my husband was heading up the Waikiki Beach Chaplaincy at the same time he served as a Chaplain with the Honolulu Police Department, and between the two was involved in “rescuing” many teen girl prostitutes (commonly called hookers), who were mainland runaways, and assisting them in returning to the Mainland. Much of the assisting was done secretly in getting them free from their pimps, connecting them with various family members and then putting them onto a plane for their home destinations.

A few years ago while Bob was attending the Christian Booksellers Convention, a woman walked up to him and said with a smile, “My, you haven’t changed a bit. You look exactly the same as you did in the 70’s in Hawaii.” She then took one step closer, her demeanor changed and with moist eyes said in a soft voice, “You knew me as Bambi, and I worked up and down Kalakaua in Waikiki.. Thank you for rescuing me and setting me free.”

Bob’s soul matched his smile as he did recall this former teen hooker that he rescued. At that moment her husband stepped forward and she introduced him and added, “He knows all about my past and loves me. For that I am so very very thankful for this Godly man.” She went on to inform Bob that when she returned to the mainland she was happily and tearfully welcomed back to her home. Shortly afterwards she became a Christian, active in her church and then a few years later God convicted her to reach out to prostitutes from street walkers to the high priced call girls throughout the West. It has become a full-time ministry and she has been joined by other ex-prostitutes who are now Christians. Their latest focus is with various Nevada brothels that are “legal” under that states law. (Because of the nature of her ministry she prefers not to use her real name so I’ll call her Jane Doe.)

Now fast forward from then to two weeks ago when she E-mailed us (below) to make this heartfelt request —

“Dear Bob and Yvonne. As you know I continue with my ministry to the legal brothels in various Nevada counties. I have obtained a list of names of many of the “ladies” who work there and am sending that list to you. (Note: The names are at the bottom of this mailing.) I would request you please consider sending these names to your EMail mailing list and asking the recipients to print out all these names and to pray alternately for them during daily devotionals – to ask God to intercede in their lives and convict them of their sins, their lifestyle, and that the Holy Spirit will impress upon them to make a change, to depart from their profession and give their souls, hearts and minds to His service. We serve a God of miracles so Yes I am asking for a miracle for these precious women that God loves, and every one of them someone’s daughter. Your readers can be a part of this miracle. Many of them are lonely and depressed and have no where to turn. Many of their families have rejected them. Many feel like worthless whores and that they are only good for giving men and women sexual pleasure. Many of them are making more money than ever before but see a hopeless future, knowing that when they grow “older” they’ll be put aside for the younger, more beautiful women who are only too eager to take their place. If people receiving your newsletter (individuals, couples, churches, organizations, conference centers, pastors and pastoral staffs all throughout the world) would lift each of these women up in prayer before the Throne of God, miracles WILL happen in their lives. I believe it and I claim it. It is unimportant which brothel they work in. Most of the names you’ll read are ‘stage’ names, not their real ones, but the Lord knows who they are and where they work. I will group them with their respective brothels and do so by Brothel #1, etc. There are many legal brothels in Nevada but the four below are the ones we’re concentrating on. In praying say each of their names outloud and as you do remember they, like all of us, have eternal souls.

Dear Bob and Yvonne, please please send this out and ask everyone to print this and make copies for their prayer partners, for their church staffs, for deacons and elders, for men’s and women’s prayer groups, actually for anyone who truly believe in the power of prayer and who will be faithful and consistent to lift these women up before the Lord. I just know God will honor the prayers of thousands of His children and lives WILL be changed which will mean this world’s oldest profession will no longer be a part of their lives.

In closing ask that those praying will pray that the (literally) thousands of women throughout the world who each month constantly send in photos and bios to these brothels hoping to be hired, that they will reconsider their actions and not seek this employment.

“Jane Doe”

A few hours ago she called us in tears. She asked if we had sent out the prostitute prayer request. We said we hadn’t yet. She begged us to send it out as soon as possible for she recently received a late night phone call from one of the brothels informing her that one of the girls had committed suicide. This was a girl that she had been ministering to – who felt she was worthless and with no real purpose in life. Jane was going to meet with her next weekend but now it’s too late for this prostitute has now passed into eternity. But hundreds remain and each of these precious women in God’s sight needs all of our prayers.

So please do take the time to print out these numerous names (below) and please do take the time to organize them into brothel groupings and as the Lord leads you as an individual or a group to lift each of these women up before the Lord praying as He gives you the words to say on behalf of these prostitutes. The Bible verse Bob and I claim is 2 Cor. 4:4 – “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the Glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” These women like all women and men were created in the image of God, and the “image” they are displaying today is breaking His heart. Please join Jane and her co-workers plus the two of us in praying for a dramatic spiritual turnaround in their lives.

Let’s agree that there WILL be a major miracle in their lives and Yes consider forwarding this to EVERYONE you believe would be open to receiving it and who could be potential praying saints.
